Curves Are the Culture
A magazine for full-figured women — the hip-hop version of body positivity: louder, better dressed, and not asking. Black plus-size culture is the default setting here, not a section, and nobody is excluded. We build from the answer that was already here: the beauty shops, the Black magazines and their own beauty contests, fifty years of thick, curvy and BBW sung on the radio. We have standards, we argue about them, and our subjects are already the standard. In three to five years, we want to be the household name that owns the conversation around plus size beauty, history, and community — the way ESPN owns sports.
