What We Collect
We collect information you give us directly: your email when you subscribe to the newsletter; your name, email, and any photos or story text when you submit a story, a Corpulent Queens nomination, or an Art Spotlight submission; and your company, contact details, and message when you send an advertising inquiry. If you place an order from the Collection, our payment processor shares your email and order details with us so we can fulfill it (see "Payment Processing" below).
How We Use It
To send the newsletter, review and respond to submissions and inquiries, fulfill orders, and improve the site. We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
Payment Processing
Purchases from the Collection are processed by Stripe. We don't see or store your card details — Stripe handles that directly. We keep a record of the order itself (email, items, and status) so we can fulfill it and help if something goes wrong.
Cookies and Advertising
We use cookies for basic site functionality (like keeping items in your cart). We run no third-party analytics.
We do show ads, from two sources. Ads sold directly to an advertiser are served from this site: we count views and clicks on them in aggregate, and set no cookie to do it. We also use Google AdSense. Google and its partners may place and read cookies on your browser, or use web beacons or your IP address, to serve ads and measure them, and — where you have allowed it — to show ads based on your interests and your visits to this and other sites. Google explains this at How Google uses information from sites that use its services. You can opt out of personalised advertising at Google Ads Settings or aboutads.info. Some pages carry no ads at all.
We do count how many times each article is read. That count is the whole record: the article’s address and the date, and nothing else. The counter sets no cookie, loads no script, and does not store your IP address, your device, where you came from, or anything that could be tied back to you. Two people reading the same piece and one person reading it twice look identical to us, which is the point — we only use it to show which stories are being read.
